About
This site is administered by John Sawyer, a huge fan of roots, early rock and blues music. I’ve been playing music for more than 50 years and listening longer than that as my father was a guitar player and almost always had music playing in the house. My mother loved music, too. Neither of them were too crazy about my musical tastes, but that’s a rule in most households, I understand. Actually, Dad turned me on to rock ‘n roll, bringing home a copy of a 4-song EP by Bill Haley and the Comets that he played quite frequently.
I play guitar, harmonica and bass primarily. I learned piano when I was a kid, although nobody would teach me what I really wanted to learn: Jerry Lee Lewis. One of these days, I may drag out my old Yamaha keyboard and learn some boogie piano licks, but I also have plenty of work to do on my guitar, harp and bass chops, so I’m going to need more hours than I currently have in a day to accomplish all that.
So, now you know where I’m coming from. Enjoy the site and let’s hear from you!
